Charity is at the very heart of
Freemasonry and one of the Great Principles of the Order. Masons
practice charitable giving along with voluntary efforts for the
community as a whole. It is a proud fact that the Order is the
second largest giver to Charity in this country behind only the
National Lottery.
From its
earliest days Freemasonry has been concerned with the care of
orphans, the sick and the aged.
This work continues today and large
sums of money are raised from within Freemasonry for National
and Local Charities.
Charitable
work continues every month and is exercised at every level;
individual Lodges make gifts and give aid to their local
communities.
Every Province
also gives large sums of money to regional causes, and through
the United Grand Lodge nationally our efforts are channelled
through our four main charitable organisations. |
